This sports psychology service is for coaches at all levels of all sports, whether a beginner or experienced veteran.

For Coaches: Take advantage of my "coach's coach" service and begin to:

  • Work with athletes who choke, slump, and lose self confidence.
  • Instill motivation and mental toughness.
  • Know the do's and don'ts for pre-game psyching.
  • Use the winning principles of sports psychology to help you to peak performance.
  • Train your athletes to be mentally tough.
  • Know how to get parents to work with, not against you.
  • Understand the secrets of slump-busting and snapping losing streaks.
  • Teach your athletes to stay cool in the clutch.
  • Know how to develop a close-knit, winning team.

I believe that the single most vital aspect to successful peak performance coaching is the quality of the personal relationship between athlete and coach. When you demonstrate that you are truly invested in your athletes' success, they are more inclined to be motivated and self-confident. When you communicate your belief in them, they are more inclined to "go the distance," to do all that you ask, to take appropriate risks and to get going with the going gets tough. Athletes don't care about what you know, they just want to know that you care. John Wooden once said: "There's a great deal of LOVE in my coaching."

With a strong, positive relationship, you can ask your athletes to do all it takes to improve and they will oblige accordingly, provided you let them know that you have confidence in their ability to do it. They need to know, also, that if they fail, you will be there to help them to learn from the setback and help them eventually master it.

In the past 18 years, 40 of my teams have gone to a final four with 23 of these winning a national championship. I have written several books in several languages and produced DVD's on mental toughness and how to achieve peak performance. They continue to be used by coaches and athletes in the NBA, NFL, PGA and numerous NCAA programs such as the Universities of Maryland, Duke, Missouri, Iowa, Colorado, Stanford, Arkansas and many more. I am consistently asked to present keynote talks at major national coaching conventions as well as being invited to conduct coaching clinics for university athletic departments nationwide. These rich experiences have taught me so much, the most profound thing being this: great coaching and leadership entail not only the technical, skill training and strategic aspects of the game, but also. . . and perhaps more importantly. . . the personal, heart-related, affective aspects, as well as enabling you to inspire and motivate your athletes. I'm talking about teaching compassion, courage, fearlessness, tenacity, patience, respect, sacrifice, selflessness and more.
